Because I endeavor to make accessing specialized care affordable, I offer a limited number of reduced session cost spaces. Please contact me if you need financial assistance.
I also offer a free 20 minute consultation for initial connection, education, and support. If you are struggling with these experiences, I encourage you to connect. You are not alone, and these experiences are actually not uncommon.
Peer Support Consultations:
This consultation is designed for individuals experiencing Meditation-Related Adverse Effects (MRAEs) including difficult experiences arising from Kundalini and non-dual teachings, insights, experiences, or practices. Dan Gilner assesses symptoms, facilitates connective understanding of experiences, and teaches modalities to navigate through and recover from MRAEs. The consultation is provided in a person-centered and trauma-informed manner.
Qualifications:
Dan Gilner is a leading expert in helping individuals navigate and recover from MRAEs. As the first Director of Care Services and the sole Senior Care Team Member at Cheetah House, he co-created the non-clinical care modality Scaffolding / Resourcing with Dr. Willoughby Britton, founder of Cheetah House. This modality is used at The Caring Space to help navigate through and recover from MRAEs. Dan also holds a Masters of Social Sciences in Environment and Community and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Dan has over one thousand hours of Peer Support experience, working with people from all over the world, and helping them heal through these experiences.
Trauma Informed Compassion Training:
Trauma Informed Compassion Training is a progressive compassion training with nine distinct practices which are developed over three progressive stages. Clients engage in the practices at their own pace, as there is no predetermined time frame for progression. The training synthesizes spiritual, secular, and therapeutic compassion training.
Qualifications:
Dan Gilner is a trained meditation teacher in the Kagyu / Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. He has extensive training and personal experience in Dzogchen Natural Compassion practices, Sustainable Compassion Training, and Compassion Focused Therapies Compassionate Mind Training. Drawing from his personal journey with MRAEs, Dan created this training to offer a safe, trauma informed approach to compassion practices.
Consultation for Care Services Providers, Meditation Teachers, Retreat Centers, and Meditation Based Curricula:
This service caters to meditation teaching and training professionals, including clinical and non-clinical service providers, spiritual teachers, and meditation teachers. For care services providers and teachers, this consultation helps address clients or students experiencing MRAEs, navigate care systems, and offer advice on trauma informed practices and care modalities. It also supports teachers, meditation retreat centers, and meditation training programs in creating safe, caring, and trauma-informed spaces for their practices.
Qualifications:
Dan Gilner has a diverse set of training, degrees, and experiences. He is a meditation teacher and house-holder yogin lineage carrier in the Kagyu / Nyingma lineages of Natural Compassion. He holds a Master's of Clinical Mental Health Counseling, where he trained in Compassion Focused Therapy. He is also a Sustainable Compassion Training teacher. Dan also completed a year-long professional training in engaging with and undoing systemic oppression in relational practice spaces, including in the practices themselves, from Courage of Care Coalition. He has a background in Interfaith coalitions and holds a Master of Social Sciences degree in Environment and Community. Combining these areas of expertise, Dan helps professionals create safe, trauma-informed engagements with meditation and spiritual frameworks.
